Canyonlands

Islands in the Sky. Crossing the highway from Arches, I found myself in Canyonlands National Park. The park is named for the numerous deep chasms found all around the area. Also in the area are the islands in the sky (mesas surrounded by canyons).

Arches

Johnny visits the golden Arches... well not really golden... more of a sandstone really...

Yes, I'm in the American Southwest, visiting Arches National Park. Arches is home to a huge collection of sandstone arches, including: the double arch; the delicate arch; and the southern window (which, I believe, was in the opening of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). It also has other unusual stone formations including the balanced rock.
